I've had the privilege of being part of Nzime for over 25 years. Together we have designed and built the very first websites for international brands and today we're forming and delivering complex brand propositions through multi channel digital platforms.
We're quick to pull on trainers and get some miles in or make the effort to travel to the gym or even stand in front of Joe Wicks in the comfort of our own homes, but the easiest of all is to take 10 minutes out at any point of your day to train in a different and often more effective way.
As a business that lives by deadlines, fast moving goals and a focus to perform it is naturally a stressful environment, harnessed and shared this can be a positive thing and creates camaraderie, competitiveness and drive. However if people feel isolated and overly burdened then this can quickly change to negative stress.
Our values as a business both internal and external include Transparency, Collaboration, Respect, Kindness but sometimes values alone are not enough. Mental health has the habit of popping up at unexpected times, it's not like stepping on the scales and seeing a gradual decline which can often be controlled.
With all of this in mind we are launching a mental health policy, sounds grand and impressive but it's not really, it's just letting our team know that we are here if you need us, always open for conversation and flexible to individuals needs. We are also providing online resources to help guide and manage either specific areas or as a general ongoing support to keep us as 'head healthy' as possible.
We do not have a dedicated HR department or even comprehensive guidelines, what we have is the start of something that will be built upon based on the needs and wants of our staff. After all our team IS Nzime.
