This weekend was the final round of the DTRA British flat track championship at Greenfield. Going into the final round already with the championship in the bag I still wanted to put in a good result and try for a clean sweep in all heats and the final. It didn't go to plan though.
After my Honda CRF450 didn't start ahead of heat 1 I was very lucky to have George Sturgess quickly step in and lend me his bike. Rolling out onto the grid on an alien feeling bike certainly sharpens the senses, however once the race started then that was it, head down and managed a win. Heat 2 was similar and then heat 3 I struggled from the back row but made it into 2nd.
The final however really didn't go to plan, too aggressive and struggling to maintain pace and smoothness I could only mange 3rd. Having said that and all things considered I couldn't complain.
This years DTRA championship has been a great experience, brilliant tracks, friendly people and loads of talent. It also appears to attract designers, photographers, illustrators and other creative sorts which certainly made me feel right at home.
After winning my rookie year I can't wait to get back in 2019 to contest the Inters class.
Massive thanks to all the support I've received throughout the year.
